Information about Jim Bidwell
The principal of JBI is James K. Bidwell. He has over 25 years of national and international experience in engineering and construction project management. His undergraduate degree is in engineering, he is a past practicing professional engineer, has a Master's Degree in Business Administration and is licensed to practice law in California.
Mr. Bidwell has been the general manager of construction companies, a developer, a general engineering and general building contractor, a design Engineer, and a project engineer. In those capacities, his duties have covered most phases of Construction Management.
These various roles have given Mr. Bidwell the unique insight needed to understand the client's need whether it be design and conceptualization, contract management or in a construction dispute following the completion of the project.
Mr. Bidwell also has extensive experience in the acquisition of manufacturing plant components and the installation of that equipment into operating manufacturing facilities.
In 2002, Mr. Bidwell participated as Contracts Manager on the renovation of the beautiful Tides Inn in Irvington, Virginia. In that capacity, he was responsible for the contract management of 34 contractor/subcontract and supplier contracts for the complete renovation of the rooms and the grounds at the facility. The objective of the renovation was to restore the Inn to its former position as one of the finest resorts on the East Coast of the United States. The plan was to enhance and restore the classic property while protecting the reputation as a quality, independently run destination resort.
The Tides Inn is one of the World's Finest Small Resorts. Guests love the serenity and beauty of the area, and casual elegance at the Inn seldom found in this day and time. The improvements included the restoration of guest rooms and public areas of the Inn, improvements to the Golden Eagle Golf Course and clubhouse, and the Tides Spa. Restoration was completed in phases and the initial work was completed in 2002 with additional phases in 2003 and following years.
As a panel member of the American Arbitration Association and on the Distinguished Neutrals Panel of Dispute Prevention & Resolution, he has served as an arbitrator, mediator, advocate, or advocate's assistant in over 100 arbitrations.
